Tomorrow Milos and I set off for a night of camping in the Pyranees. We were meant to stay for a little bit longer, but the weather forecast predicted rain, and I didn’t particularly fancy a cold night in the mountains in a thunder shower. Our tent is all packed up, and we have our supplies. We plan to visit the lakes of Malniu, which are beautiful, high up near the border with France. Lakes, and mountain air, clear and frosty, just what you need in the heat of summer.
I have been looking forward to this trip for some time, as I haven’t been camping in an age! Clearly I have had lakes, mountains and tents on the brain, collecting images from the internet to just get me more excited! These photos are from all over, from Japan to America. Last Year when Milos and I were in the USA, we saw plenty of places that would make lovely return spots for camping, if only we had had more time! The natural reserves there were huge! A real escape!
The Pyranees hosts many areas that are perfect for a hike and swim, or just lovely mountain vistas. We are not sure how busy it will be as August is the month that Spanish people escape to the cool of the beach or chillier mountain climes. The spot we are visiting is about a 3 hour drive from Barcelona, and if it’s a successful trip you can be sure we will start to explore further to places like the famous Aigüestortes.
