Quite a common name here in Barcelona is Oriol and I always liked it because it reminded me of the bright song birds that I used to see in South Africa, called Black-headed Orioles. Pretty in yellow and black plumage, they would call from the trees with a liquid trill, not unlike the ceramic toy bird call flutes that you can find in the Spanish markets.
